CAUTION: The rant filter has been turned off.
Does anybody have a problem with Jon and Kate besides me?
I’ll be the first to admit I don’t know this couple. I don’t know what they’re really like off camera. I don’t know what their real motives are. I don’t know what kind of parents they really are. I don’t know what their marriage is really like.
BUT…I have an 11 year old who LOVES this show. Last night they aired their marriage problems in front of 10 million viewers as part of the kick off for the new season of their show. Can anyone say r-a-t-i-n-g-s? Can anyone say m-o-n-e-y?
Seriously, someone should have stepped up and stopped this train wreck. Can you imagine what these kids are going to have to live with? Every school they go to and every person they meet for the rest of their lives will know the dirty laundry of their family. Those kids are going to get hosed.
Not to mention what I as a parent have to sit down and explain to my own kid. Thank you “Learning” Channel! This reality show crap has finally gone off the chain.
OK, the rant filter is back on again…sorry.

dave you are so right, it's funny how all these problems suddenly came up three weeks before the new season started. it sure would have been nice if all the hype was about them giving there lives to the Lord and being good christian role models for those 8 kids, wishful thinking from a reality show i guess.

After getting enticed into a marriage enrichment journey starting with the Love & Respect principles I know you promote, I viewed their show from this filter. Even before their marriage problems were announced, I could see that Kate didn't seem respectful of John. I sensed that John didn't have the authority as the head of his household (maybe he just let her have authority or maybe he tried to be the leader of his house and was put down by a strong female - doesn't matter - that has consequences!)... Though I'm intrigued to view this as a study in marriage enrichment, mostly I'm just sad. 1) Doesn't seem like either one of them wants to try to save this covenant union. 2) They both verbalized that as long as the kids know both parents love them, there won't be damage to the kids. Wrong! I wish could get Love and Respect materials in their hands and if that doesn't work, make them go see Joe Beam. Dave, thanks for being a leader on the marriage enrichment front!!

I totally agree! It makes me mad. I honestly didn't watch the show to begin with because I can't stand Kate's attitude most of the time and the way she degrades and speaks over Jon all the time. This new season just gives me more reason not to watch it.
