WOW!! That pretty much sums up how I feel after this weekend! God is doing some awesome things at NHC and I'm feeling pretty pumped by it all. Here are some thoughts from the weekend...
• GREAT DAY! Packed house, which is awesome for the summer. (Look out for the fall!) A little more serious tone than normal, but it was a much-needed message. We talked about overcoming the past and God was all over the room. Lots of emotion and tears. Lots of people acknowledging their past. Lots of healing taking place.
• Talked about the woman at the well. What an incredible story of Jesus' love for even those of us who have incredibly bad things in our past. He purposefully went through Samaria to meet her at the well to show her 4 things: that he knew everything about her...that he still saw her beauty...that he wanted to forgive her sin...and that he wanted to move her forward into his plan for her life.
• Lots of gasps of disbelief in the room when I cut up the nice purse. I love it when we get a reaction like that. Not just for the shock value, but for the communication value. That's one point everyone will remember.
• Worship was powerful! Jon and the band are adding some new worship tunes to our list and they're really stepping up the worship atmosphere big time. And Yvette knocked it out of the park on Moving Forward.
• Here's the biggest thing of all - 33 PEOPLE PRAYED TO RECEIVE CHRIST YESTERDAY!!! And here's the thing that surprised me most - A LOT OF THEM WERE MEN!!! During a women's series! Only God!!!
• Then Adam emailed us this morning with some incredible news: since June 28th we have had 213 PEOPLE PRAY TO RECEIVE CHRIST!!! DURING THE SUMMER SLUMP!!! ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL!!!
• Love what's happening in the re-do of our NHC Kids' environments. They're almost ready for the grand opening of two new environments - Shockwave for 4/5 graders and Plunge for K-3rd graders. Just so you know - we're running out of room for our kids quickly. Get ready because we have to do something about this!
• NHC, God is doing some awesome things in our church that most churches just dream of. Do you know how blessed we are to get to see some of these things? I think the song the band did at the end of the day yesterday not only applied to the topic, but it also applies to our church - we're Moving Forward!! In case you missed it, here are the lyrics:
I'm not going back
I'm moving ahead
I'm here to declare
In You old things are made new
Surrender my life to Christ
I'm moving forward
Let's keep moving forward!!
