Here are some of my Monday thoughts about Sunday at NHC...
• Attendance was WAY up in the 11:00 service. I guess there were a lot of women who wanted to be there for the kick-off of Beautiful.
• We spend the whole service yesterday trying to make women feel special and beautiful. Chocolate for the women only...a great kick-off song by the band, When God Made A Woman...and then the message focused on how God sees you as a woman - he's ENTHRALLED WITH YOUR BEAUTY!! I really hope it encouraged the ladies!
• I've never really fully understood it, but it seems that women have a hard time hearing and accepting it when someone says, "You're beautiful." In my humble opinion (and when it comes to women's issues it really IS humble!), I think women struggle with this because they tend to listen to the "voices" around them more than they listen to the voice of God. That's why we spent so much time yesterday focusing on what God thinks and how he views his "daughters."
• Single ladies - DON'T SETTLE FOR LESS THAN GOD'S BEST (especially the "crumbs")!!
• If you missed the services yesterday be sure to check out the video here.
• Next week...The Perfect Wife. Don't worry ladies, it will be encouraging! And...maybe just a tad convicting. WHO ARE YOU BRINGING TO NHC NEXT WEEKEND?
• On another note, Susan and I checked out a new hamburger joint in Hillsborough yesterday. Andy's, next to the Super Wal Mart, is highly recommended. We had a great cheeseburger, fries and drink for $5 and I topped it off with a superb chocolate malt. The atmosphere was very friendly and the set up is that of a 60's burger joint, complete with 60's rock and roll playing in the background.

I hate I missed the first message of Beautiful, but heard from my small group it was a great message. It's not up on the site yet for viewing. (Was hoping your link had it up...but not yet).
Thanks for doing a women's series. We need it!
P.S. Congrats on jumping into the world of Andy's! They are da bomb!

A note about Andy's-one day we got take out. Got it home and realized something was missing. Called and let them know we were coming back. They remembered us, and when Tony got there, they had someone stationed on parking lot duty to alert them when he arrived. They ran out with his missing burger PLUS some of the other custard flavor he'd been debating on. Now THAT'S customer service!
A note about the service-very good! I was, however, getting nervous the closer and closer we got to the verse about the sons. As someone who has not been able to have children, I must say, that has been something that has made me feel less than beautiful. So the idea of identity being wrapped up in your kids apparently even extends to whether or not you have them!
