Wow, what a day. Hard to put into words what I felt today, but I'll try...
• Saw 27 people pray out loud to receive Christ today! (I don't care how many times I have to say it - that never gets old!)
• Yes, we kicked off the day with a Van Halen song...yes, Van Halen in church! Only at New Horizon, huh?
• And, yes, I did say the Jump series was an "enema series." (If you weren't here to hear what that means, check out the video here. It'll be up on the website the first of the week.)
• We only have one primary agenda at New Horizon - the GOSPEL. We are called by God and commissioned by Jesus himself to take the Gospel to the people around us who don't know Jesus or who are far from him. We're not about a political agenda or a social agenda or any other agenda.
• And no, we're not about keeping "church people" happy by meeting their self-focused needs. We are called by Jesus to be "fishers of men," not spiritual water skiers.
• The early church prayed for boldness in the face of intense persecution and the threat of death (Acts 4:23-31). And we're afraid to ask a friend to come to church?
• Had fun handing out a couple of thousand Peeps today to be used as invitation tools for Easter at New Horizon. Did you get yours? Use them to bring your peeps to Easter services.
* Easter is THE biggest opportunity we have during the year to invite our friends to church. Why? Because surveys consistently show that when asked, a majority of unchurched people say they would accept an invitation to visit a church on Easter. In other words - THEY'LL COME IF WE'LL JUST ASK THEM!! (Cue the Peeps!)
• So, I can't say this enough - INVITE YOUR FRIENDS TO EASTER AT NEW HORIZON!!! Pray for boldness and an open door. And then when God answers (and I guarantee you he WILL answer that prayer) GO FOR IT!!!
• Love you guys, and I can't wait to see what God does this Easter!

Just had to share this.. Since the downturn of the economy we had not been tithing as we should. My husband and I thought we should pay off our debt ASAP in case either of us lost our jobs. We constantly felt the Lord speaking to our hearts to trust Him. This past Sunday he picked up a daily devotions book and what do you know? it spoke about tithing. I had turned on the TV this week at the moment that a pastor was talking about Christians robbing God when they did not tithe. God has been so good to us and continues to do so... Our step of obedience with our tithe brought cleansing for both of us this weekend. Your sermon of 'Jumping in to serve God' with the concern of the lost around us was again God's perfect timing. I needed to 'Jump in' and be obedient in whatever way necessary to help bring the message of Jesus Christ and salvation to the lost. God Bless you Dave and all the staff at NHC!
