Yesterday was baptism day at New Horizon. We explained it and then challenged people to be baptized on the spot. Here are some of my thoughts on the day after...
• We talked about what it means to JUMP - just do what Jesus tells us to do.
• Many times just doing what Jesus tells us to do is the key to the next thing God wants to reveal or do in our lives. It's obedience in the small things that prepares us for participation in the big things.
• How do you see Jesus? Weak, mamby-pamby guy who gives everyone hugs, kisses and lollipops? Or King of Kings & Lord of Lords? How you see Jesus has a huge effect on how obedient you'll be.
• The first step Jesus calls us to take after committing our lives to him is BAPTISM. (Matthew 28:18-20)
• Result - 37 people JUMPED into the waters of baptism yesterday! Awesome!
• On another note, spent a couple of hours today with our programming team planning for Easter. We're planning something for Easter that we've NEVER DONE BEFORE! What is it? Sorry, can't tell you, but I'll say this - you don't want to miss it!
• Also planning for our Easter series - No Perfect People Allowed. It's going to be a great series to invite your unchurched friends to, so get ready to INVITE, INVITE, INVITE for Easter!
• Heading out this week to the Unleash conference with about 40 or so NHC volunteers and leaders. Looking forward to some hang time with some awesome NHC peeps at a really great conference. See 'ya next Sunday for Pt. 2 of JUMP.
