This past week our Community Care team carried out Phase 2 of our most recent M25 Food Drop. On Wednesday a group of NHC'ers loaded up a 17' U-Haul with enough food and toiletries for every family at C. C. Spaulding Elementary School. Each family would receive 30 lbs. of food, a box of toiletries and every mom would receive a special box of Avon products.
When our team arrived, all the families had gathered in the school auditorium to receive the boxes. Dr. Kelley, the Principal of the school, introduced our team by saying, "This is New Horizon Church. If you don't have a church you need to go to New Horizon Church!" She then invited Leah Rade, our Community Care Pastor, to, "tell them all about New Horizon Church." (Not something you would expect a public school Principal to say!)
But that's what happens when the church steps up to "be the church!"
