Well, I'm actually back among the living today. Still coughing and my head feels like it's full of something that shouldn't be in there, but all in all, feeling better. So here's a few thoughts on the weekend...
• If you were with us yesterday you know I was "playing hurt." I started getting sick Friday night and by Saturday it was in full swing. So when Sunday rolled around I was not in good shape at all.
• But...as usual...God always seems to show up when we are at our weakest. People got saved yesterday. Lives were changed. Choices were made. Faith grew. Not because of me, but IN SPITE OF ME! Love that.
• Kicked off our new series on Miracles yesterday. I have to confess that I'm no expert on the subject of miracles. I'm not sure if I've ever even seen a real, bonafide miracle. But I believe God still does them, whether I've seen one or not.
• Taught yesterday on Jesus' first miracle - turning water into wine at a wedding party.
• Why would Jesus use his miracle working power to provide wine for a party? Simple: so we would know he sees our needs...cares about our needs...has the power to do something about it...and has the ability to take even our worst situations and turn them into something better than we could have ever imagined.
• BUT...as we've seen over and over, God expects us to participate in the process. "Do whatever he tells you to do," was the instruction Mary gave to the servants. And those words are the biggest principle of the story - IF YOU WANT TO EXPERIENCE GOD'S BEST YOU HAVE TO BE WILLING TO DO WHATEVER HE TELLS YOU TO DO.
• Over and over you see this principle connected to God's miracle working power. Jesus told a blind man to go wash his eyes. He told a crippled man to get up and take up his mat and walk. He told Peter to get out of the boat and walk on water.
• What is Jesus telling you to do right now that you're not doing? What might God do in your life right now if you'd simply DO what he's telling you to do?
• All in all, another great day at New Horizon. Love you guys!
