The momentum for 10-10-10 continued to build this weekend! Here's a few highlights...
• Saw tons of folks making commitments to Christ yesterday and it's not even 10-10-10! CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF THAT!!
• The videos of changed lives were awesome. And in case you didn't notice, there was a common theme: Someone got invited, they sat in the blue chairs and Jesus changed their lives.
• Two of the stories emphasized that the person had to be invited MULTIPLE TIMES before they came. I think sometimes we have the mistaken idea that when we invite someone they're going to respond with, "Church? I can't wait! What time should I get there?" When in reality they're more likely to respond with, "Thanks but no thanks." So what do you do? Keep inviting! Don't give up. After all, God didn't give up on you.
• I also think that sometimes the folks we are inviting don't accept the invitation because they think they're not good enough for church...that they have to "clean up their act" before they come to church. That's why it's so important for us to emphasize that New Horizon is a "come as you are" church. It's not a "stay as you are" church, but it is "come as you are."
• LOVE the scripture passage we unpacked yesterday: If anyone is in Christ he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17
- If ANYONE is in Christ! it doesn't matter who you are or what you've done, you can be a new person in Jesus Christ!
- If anyone is IN CHRIST - It's Jesus and only Jesus that changes lives. I can't change your life, New Horizon Church can't change your life, only Jesus can do that.
• But the follow up to that life change is this: (God)...gave us the ministry of reconciliation...he has committed to us the message of reconciliation...God (is) making his appeal through us. 2 Corinthians 5:17-21 We are changed so we can help others change.
• So who do you know who needs to be in the chair? 10-10-10 IS TWO WEEKS AWAY. Let's do all we can to make sure that everyone who needs to be in the chair is in the chair. Do whatever it takes to get them here and let's see what God will do.
• And I'm telling you ahead of time - GET HERE EARLY...BE IN YOUR SEAT WHEN THE COUNTDOWN CLOCK HITS ZERO...YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THE OPENER!! What are we doing? Well, let's just say you've never seen anything like this in church before!
• Next week we wrap up ONE and it's going to be the best week of the series. Can't wait to preach the final message!!
That's about it...have a great week!
